What is 3D Secure?
3D Secure is a FREE service designed to make online shopping transactions safer by authenticating a cardholder's identity at the time of purchase, through MasterCard Secure Code or Verified by Visa.

The 3D Secure service provides you with One Time Password (OTP) to protect your online transactions, similar to the PIN you use on an ATM machine or the OTP used in K-net Payment Gateway, which adds an extra layer of security to your card.
With 3D Secure, even if someone knows your card details, the online purchase cannot be completed without using the 3D Secure One Time Password (OTP).

How to Register in 3D Secure?
All Burgan Bank cards are automatically registered in 3D secure for the ecommerce and online transactions with the customer’s contact details registered with the bank. All you have to do is to enjoy your online shopping with secured purchases.

How 3D Secure works while shopping online?
While you shop at a participating online merchant using your Burgan Bank Card, you will be directed to Burgan Bank 3D secure page at checkout level.

Follow the below simple steps:
  • Enter your card details and accept the terms and conditions.
  • One Time Password (OTP) will be sent to the mobile number and email address registered with the bank.
  • The One Time Password (OTP) will expire after use or after 5 minutes.
What if you didn’t receive the OTP on your mobile or email?
In case you didn’t receive OTP after checking out while shopping online, that means that your contact details are not updated in Bank’s records. All you have to do is to visit the nearest branch to update your contact details.

Should my contact details be always up-to-date?
Yes, it is very critical to keep your contact details up-to-date in bank records. In case you changed your contact details like mobile no or email address etc.. you need to update the same at the nearest branch.

How can I know if my contact details registered with the bank is up-to-date?

Who are the Participating Online Merchants?
Participating Online Merchants are the merchants who display and accept the MasterCard Secure Code or Verified by Visa logos on their website.

I have supplementary cards linked to my card. Does "3D Secure" service work for both cards?
If not specified separately, both primary and supplementary cards will be registered with the same contact details as the primary card and the OTP will be sent to the registered mobile/email. In order to change the contact details of the supplementary card, you need to visit the nearest branch.

How will the "3D secure" service affect my current online shopping experience?
The online purchase process will not change except that now you will be asked to provide your "One Time Password" during checkout. In case you are using your card at a non-participating online merchant, then you will not be asked to enter your "One Time Password”.
Tip: It is not recommended to pay at non-participating online merchants. So every time you buy or pay online, make sure that the merchant site displays MasterCard Secure Code or Verified by Visa logos.

What happens if I shop at a merchant website not registered in Verified by Visa/MasterCard Secure Code?
When buying from merchants who are not participating yet in Verified by Visa/ MasterCard Secure Code, you will not be asked for your "One Time Password”. However, you can proceed with your transaction without the additional security offered by Burgan Bank.

How will the online store know that I have registered in the "3D Secure" service?
Participating online merchants will automatically recognize your 3D secured registered card and a pop-up screen will appear asking for your One Time Password (OTP).

Does the merchant have access to my Personal Information?
No, the merchant does not have access to your personal information. All the information entered on the Burgan Bank “3D Secure” page is not available to the merchant including your "One Time Password”.

What if I entered the One Time Password (OTP) incorrectly?
You have 3 attempts after which a pop-up message will appear advising you to contact your bank on 1804080 as the transaction has been declined.
